Metalab

Metalab is a renowned design agency work with clients from Fortune 500 to FAANG (ie: Slack, Midjourney, Suno)

As a Product Design Intern, I worked on 2 client projects. I had opportunities to create art directions/branding, built design systems, and pitched my own features during client meetings.

Beyond the internship,

My time at Metalab profoundly changed the trajectory of my design journey.

Being perpetually surrounded by such a high quality of craft raised my internal bar — and inspired much of my own visual foundations and taste.

A small compilation of some of my recent designs

1. Metalab taught me image direction

Spending almost a month working with the external team, solely building pitch decks helped me get really good at piecing together image directions.

2. Metalab taught me to push for delight.

Design is a labour of love; Craft and attentiveness to details can help carry even the most rudimentary interfaces a long way.

3. Above all, Metalab taught me to give a sh*t

Beyond all the design systems, branding and art direction-ing that I did -- Metalab drove home a much deeper lesson: craft and care for my designs. To push the frontier of what I create past conventional, and to bring genuine delight in what you make.

Key Learnings

-

Imposter syndrome is a gift. It means that you're surrounded by a crowd of people who are actively pushing you to feel better. (From my lovely design mentor, Emma)
